Bringing Scuba to the Next Generation at “Christmas for All”
As NAUI Divers, we know that a love for diving can start at any stage of life. A common theme among most divers is wishing they had started diving earlier! The recent “Pre-Christmas Celebration” at the University of Economics in Prague, Czechia, is a perfect example of how sharing the diving experience and introducing young people to the sport is a great way to ignite that curiosity and sense of adventure.
Christmas for All - Celebrating and Making a Difference
Each year, students at the University of Economics in Prague organize a festive charity event filled with fun and opportunities to give back.
This year, the event raised money for the Donli Pocernice Children’s Home in support of homeless children. The event featured many activities, such as quizzes, creative workshops, and photo booths. Visitors could purchase mulled wine, gingerbread cookies, or greeting cards, with all proceeds supporting the charity.

How the Nautilus Dive Club is Making an Impact
This year, the Nautilus Student Dive Club (NAUI Platinum Pro Dive Club #1495) joined the celebration to share their love for diving. They gave students the chance to learn about diving, explore the courses offered, and facilitated their first introduction to scuba. The club offers both university student and public diving courses.
Offering cost-effective courses to university students creates a direct path for young adults to fall in love with diving and get involved in the sport. Once introduced, young adults can take the next step in pursuing that new passion.
Why Teaching Young People to Dive Matters
The Nautilus Dive Club is successfully building a pathway for more young adults to participate in scuba diving. Once young adults discover the possibilities of this hobby, they can enjoy the journey of mastering an exciting new skill. It helps build a sense of confidence, allows them to explore a new world, and allows them to witness the beauty of the ocean with the hope they become passionate about protecting it.
College-aged students benefit greatly from scuba diving, honing life skills like teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving. It can also be a great stress-relieving activity, helping them quiet daily worries and find calm in a busy, demanding world.” The Nautilus Dive Club’s work proves how easy it is to inspire young people to fall in love with scuba diving. Events like this remind us that diving is for everyone—and the sooner someone gets started, the better.
