Position Statement
What I could contribute to NAUI is the management skills I’ve obtained in many years
of studies and on-the-job experience in tourism. Diving being the eminent market
segment in the tourism industry, NAUI needs to focus its presence in the scene of
new dive destinations. With the availability and efficient dissemination of its
excellent training programs and educational materials, NAUI must continue to strive
to be the dive agency of the people, regardless of locality or linguistic background.
We need to move NAUI up in tandem with technological development. In this age, almost
everyone has a mobile phone; in fact, plenty of instructors are using the laptop
to give power-point presentations. We must move forward to embrace current technology.
Technology is not staid; it keeps improving. So, embracing and keeping abreast of
technology is good and we must make full
use of it.
Recruiting young and vibrant people is important. We have to ensure our core within
the Association is populated by people whose youth and ease of adaptability, combined
with skills and intelligence, can serve and benefit its members.
I will continue to expend the same energy to ascertain that as new markets and dive
destinations are opened in the emerging economies and countries of the Pacific Rim
region, NAUI will be ready to meet the requirements arising thereof.

Answers To The
BOD Election Questions
Question #1.
Being the most respected dive agency, it is imperative that we capture a sizeable
portion of the dive market that is reflective of our quality education. This endeavor,
however, must be approached without compromising our very high standards. I would
like to see that in the near future our highly esteemed texts are made more accessible
and affordable. Accessible in that it becomes available in more languages and able
to
reach a wider audience, and affordable to the extent it is packaged such that
it does not inflict too much pinch on students and members alike. |
Question #2.
Coming from the younger generation, from which the majority of divers – most certainly
new divers - belong, I can sense and represent their perspective on many aspects
of the sport and business of diving. In this respect, I can bring to the board’s
attention on matters arising that affects and are deemed important to this segment
of the market. This ensures that the board is kept abreast of the pulse of the youth
and young generation.
Question #3.
As a
recreational sport, the provision of scuba instruction is definitely there
to stay, and can be a very rewarding life-long carrier for those who teaches, promotes
and markets their dive business well. NAUI can assist its members by continuing to improve and develop its teaching materials, exposing the public to the NAUI brand
by way of continuous advertisement and promotion, and enforcing its stringent standards
and policies to maintain its reputation for good dive education and safety.
