In the summer of 1980 I was introduced to the world of diving through the NAUI education system. Many years and thousands of dives later, as a member of our esteemed association, I am actively promoting environmental protection of Philippine mangroves and reefs.
On the teaching front, I am always trying to instill our motto of Dive Safety Through Quality Education at every level of scuba training.
I would endeavor to establish NAUI service centers or satellite offices in as many countries as feasible. Specifically in states where the population exceeds 50 million. This will increase NAUI Worldwide’s reach and provide a more efficient service to instructors.
Answers To The
BOD Election Questions
1. Vision for NAUI
I envision NAUI Worldwide to become the number one scuba training agency in ten years, while still maintaining the quality difference we are renowned for.
The current leaders of the association have been doing great work leading to this goal. Therefore I would support their efforts. NAUI’s ecological initiatives, product innovations and promotions will pave the way to our ultimate objective.
Furthermore, I believe the organization should take into consideration producing NAUI branded scuba equipment and even NAUI endorsed regional dive tours in cooperation with its network of members.
2. Increase Instructor Certification
Opening new country service centers or at least satellite offices tasked with marketing products and services. These new centers should be targeted on emerging markets such as Asia and South America.
Among the benefits of bringing offices closer to instructors is the reduced cost for their certifications. Faster turnover of materials and certification cards. Prompt and locally available assistance. Increased presence of the NAUI brand in the area, also lowering participation expense in local or regional trade shows.
3. Standards in an Evolving Market
The dive training market is moving back towards a more comprehensive scuba diver education at the entry level. This highlights the validity of NAUI’s constant position of maintaining the highest standard for teaching for every course and the virtue of ‘Academic Freedom’ for its instructors.
