  • My NAUI Bio

Marcelo was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1966 and with only sixteen years old he was already getting his first open water diver certification, two years and many dives later he became an instructor turning his hobby into a passion and his passion into a profession.
With a degree in Marine Biology he continued to teach where he was certified the solid FEMAR (Fundacao de Estudos do Mar) or the Brazilian Navy Marine Studies Foundation.
From instructor to senior instructor to coordinator to director of marine biology & diving department and later managing partner of Deep Blue Scuba Diving in 1989.
FEMAR and Deep Blue opened many doors in the diving industry in Rio being the ones who organized the scuba diving courses for the Navy School (Escola Naval) as well as SINAI (Commercial Diving Course).
After 10 years in Brazil leading the diving market in many fields, he moved to gain experience in other diving markets, joining the Club Med as instructor in the Bahamas, quickly he move up on the ladder and became Chief of Scuba in the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Mexico and on board the Club Med 2, the urge to learn other languages & cultures was not over yet and he joined Euro Divers Worldwide in the Maldives and later Egypt until becoming the Area Manager for the Middle East.
Today as a NAUI Course Director he still teaches, especially leadership courses in Brazil, assisting NAUI Mercosul.
