My NAUI Bio
My journey in NAUI began before I was born. I started working in the dive industry at a shop called J Rich Sports Ltd., in Houston Texas, in 1979. J Rich Sports was the dive shop that provided the diving services for the first NAUI instructor training course in 1960. Working for Jack Rich opened doors for me. In 1982, I was transferred to the Austin branch and began my study of diving science in earnest under the guidance of the staff instructors: Jim Fuller, Peter Oliver, Paul Johnston and Jim Bowden. These men are pioneers in the industry and blind luck had landed me in their circle. In 1985, J Rich closed it's Austin store and I made plans to open my own shop. From 1986 thru 2006 I worked in my business every day and because I became a NAUI instructor in 1996, I spent a lot of my evenings there as well. Starting in the industry at seventeen has allowed me to spend thirty plus years doing what I love; only to realize a lifetime of diving is still in my future.
I have helped hundreds of people expand their aquatic capacity, let me help you expand yours, for your own lifelong adventure.
