International Poster Contest For Youth
|
|
|
|
Every year, for the last 25 years, the International Poster Contest for Youth has
presented young people with medals and awards for art work depicting an ocean environment
theme established by the contest organizers.
The International Poster Contest for Youth is sponsored by the United Nations Environment
Programme, The Explorers Club, NAUI, DAN, and eight other environmental and educational
organizations.
Winners receive an originally signed work of art by renowned artist and environmentalist
Wyland as well as a hand-struck medal made by Bob Straight of Houston, Texas. The
medals deputize the winners as Ocean Rangers and depict wild dolphins leaping across
a lone star with the legend "Ocean Ranger, Sentinel of the Seas" on the obverse
and the Ocean Charter on the reverse. The medals symbolize individual commitment
to protection of the world's ocean resources. |
