Doing our part

We have the privledge of diving in some beautiful and exciting locations.  It seldom fails when I return from a dive I have something found that should not be in our waterways and oceans.  Soda can holders, plastic bags, fishing line, and so much more have an impact not only in the water, but especially for the wildlife.  Fishing line and plastic bottles can last over 400 years before deteriorating and damage coral as well as injur or kill some of our beautiful sea creatures.  While we may be diving to enjoy the speldor of the creatures and coral, think of them when making bubbles and do your part.  All it takes is cutting line from a coral head or picking up that plastic on the ocean floor.  Encourage those around you to do the same, asking others if they see items that need to be removed to take the time for the future of our dive world.  Being responsible is more than checking your gauge and making that safety stop, it's about setting examples for our dive buddies and taking initiative ourselves so future generations can also enjoy what we do.  Diving green is about diving clean!  Make it part of your next dive.
