We like to separate the water into different parts: Canals, oceans, estuaries, etc. But when you think about it most of these bodies of water are really just one continuous marine habitat. This is why it is important to remember that every piece of litter counts. Throwing sandwich bag in the Tampa Bay might ultimately make its way into the Gulf of Mexico and then take a journey up the Gulf Stream ending up in the northern waters of the United States. Throughout this journey, the litter has the opportunity to endanger several species of marine life as well as tarnish the underwater plant life. By simply disposing of your trash properly, you will be curbing the damage done not just to the water in your immediate area, but also the rest of the world! Please remember this next time your about to throw out a used beer can from your boat, or are disposing of trash from a day at sea.
