Why I Am A NAUI Green Diver
I'm a mechanical engineer researching methods for environmentally conscious product design. I believe that human behavior and knowledge is a fundamental part of the environmental impact of products, and disposal is a huge part of that. It makes me so sad to see trash on the ground and in the water. While I'm down there, why not pick it up?
The University of Texas at Austin Longhorn SCUBA program enabled me to get my open water, rescue, advanced, nitrox, and master diver certifications. Actually, I'm working on all but the nitrox and open water, right now. It's really fun, and because I'm a mechanical engineer, I also learned to maintain and repair Oceanic regulators. The equipment and underwater experience are phenomenal. I can't wait to travel the world and SCUBA some sites. It's especially important to me, because underwater habitats are at such a high risk for and actively are disappearing.
